 I live in Avon, CT with my husband, organ-builder and organist, Bon Smith. Bon is the owner of Austin Organ Service Company and has been maintaining and rebuilding organs in Southern New England since 1980. In addition to company activities, his latest home project has been building a Hauptwerk Organ "for Sue." Our son, Brad, is at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, TN, continuing his artisan studies in glass blowing and related crafts. We have been members at the Avon Congregational Church for many years.

 

 

Resumé

Experience:
I have served as organist and director of music in various denominations, including Lutheran, Episcopal, Congregational (UCC) and Methodist. I have a strong background in liturgical music and has an extensive repertoire appropriate to the liturgical calendar. I also have an affinity for and facility with contemporary, gospel and rhythmic styles. I also have considerable experience accompanying choirs, soloists and instrumentalists. I am currently serving as a free-lance substitute organist and music director on a one-time or interim basis in the Greater Hartford area.

Education:
Smith College 1980 (A.B., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) Music Major with independent study in organ performance. Two prizes in organ performance.
